Cloud services can scale quickly, but so can bills. Cost control begins with understanding what the business actually uses and which workloads need premium resources.
Measure before resizing
Review CPU, memory, storage, bandwidth and database usage over meaningful periods. Oversized servers waste money while undersized servers damage performance.
Separate critical from optional workloads
Production applications, backups, test environments and media archives have different availability needs. Matching storage and compute tiers to those needs reduces waste.
Control growth
Set budgets and alerts, remove abandoned resources, optimise images and databases, and review recurring licences. Cost optimisation should never disable backups, monitoring or essential security.
